About Lois – The Skin Nurse
I’m Lois Daisy, a nurse prescriber with over 10 years’ experience in medical aesthetics – and a firm believer in ageing well, not chasing perfection.
My journey into skin started long before I opened a clinic. In my mid‑twenties I had a facial cyst surgically removed. It left a scar that completely knocked my confidence at work; I became hyper‑aware of how I looked and how other people might see me. Not long after, I also struggled with adult acne. Dealing with both scarring and inflammatory skin conditions first‑hand gave me a deep understanding of how much our skin can affect how we feel, not just how we look.
That experience is at the heart of everything I do now. I know what it’s like to avoid mirrors, to overthink every blemish, and to feel that your skin is telling a story you don’t recognise. My role as a skin nurse is to help rewrite that story in a way that feels like you again.
Patients describe me as calm, easy to talk to and very straight‑talking. I love the science behind skin and aesthetics, but I’m just as interested in you as a person. I take time to explain treatment options in plain English, so you feel reassured, safe and fully informed – like you’re chatting with a friend who also happens to know a lot about skin.
Clinically, I specialise in ageing well, acne and inflammatory skin conditions, and subtle injectable treatments that refresh rather than transform. I’m not interested in the “done” look or overfilled lips; I focus on natural‑looking results, lip rejuvenation rather than just “lip fillers”, and regenerative treatments that work with your skin, not against it.
I co‑own The York Skin Clinic, where we offer services such as mole screening and removal, acne treatments, ablative laser resurfacing, advanced facials, microneedling, PRP, hair growth treatments and nurse‑led injectables. I’m also the face behind “The Skin Nurse” pop‑up clinics across North Yorkshire, bringing evidence‑based skin and aesthetic treatments to locations I adore visiting.
Away from clinic, life is wonderfully hectic. I’m a mum to three boys and a Labrador, and between family life and running a busy clinic I rarely have time to brush my hair, let alone get to the wild swimming and reformer Pilates I dream about. That chaos keeps me grounded and makes me deeply realistic about what fits into real people’s lives. Any treatment plan we create together has to work in your world – not in an idealised one.
Whether you come to see me for a skin treat, help with acne, or a tweakment to feel fresher and more confident, my priorities are always the same: your safety, an honest conversation, evidence‑based treatment plans and results that still look like you.
